14 OctWiFi Hotspots

I was interested in finding out where wireless hotspots were in my area. You see them on TV, the people sitting around drinking coffee and surfing the internet. Well you can do a search at Hotspot Zone. Check it out!

14 OctTroubled with the Home Front

Homefront

I was watching the CBS Evening News last night, just as I did the night before. My attention was grabbed by an ongoing series called “HomeFront”. The reporter, Sharyn Alfonsi, is touring the south speaking with people about the war in Iraq. The night before, she was interviewing veterans who turned war protesters. It seemed quite obvious to be an anti-war episode. Well, the following night, she was interviewing Navy Seabees in Gulfport, Mississippi who were gearing up to leave their hurricane leveled community behind to deploy to Iraq. The constant liberal media bias is really beginning to annoy me. Hasn’t CBS learned any lessons from the whole Dan Rather scandal? Here is the link for the CBS site featuring this story.

13 OctClinton Warmup

I haven’t watched an episode yet, but Commander in Chief is #1 in it’s time slot and everyone is talking about it. They’re not talking about it becasue it is a good show. They’re talking about it because it is an obvious attempt to get the American public used to seeing a woman in the White House. How about making a show where there is a conservative republican in the White House, and he’s not such a bad guy? I guess that wouldn’t advance the media agenda very well!

11 OctCrystal Light

Ever since I started my diet back in July, fluid intake has been a cornerstone of it. The best way for me to get my water intake was to hammer the Crystal Light(made by Kraft Foods). Since I started drinking this beverege, I have found that many stores offer their generic version of this. I do most of my shopping at Kroger, and they offer an off brand. Target and Walmart also serve up this tasty beverege in generic fashion. The generic version tasted just as good and is normally about half the price. From my experience, Walmart has the biggest selection of drinks over the other stores in my area. If you are dieting, or just like to eat healthy, I highly recommend Crystal Light or any of the spin-offs.

11 OctProduct Review – Evenflo Dazzler Cup

About a month ago, my wife bought a few of these Sippy and Straw cups made by Evenflo. They feature a neat holograghic view, it changes as you turn the cup. It also lights up when you press a button on it. The problem was, when my son dropped it, the outer plastic part broke. I called Evenflo customer support, and spoke with Amanda and she was very helpful. She told me they very very interested in hearing the problem and offered to send me a replacement. I would chalk this up to a flook incident and would otherwise recommend this product.

09 OctDisney Mix Sticks

Mife wife showed me an ad in the latest isue of Parents Magazine that featured and iPod for kids called Disney Mix Sticks. It holds 60 songs and has a memory card. The cost is somewhere around $50, and I’m not sure if it’s a good deal or not. We will proboably get one of the kids one of these for christmas if we can find out a little more about it. I would assume that these are a little more durable than the normal iPods. I just don’t want to pay more just because it is Disney.

12/8/05
We went ahead and purches the Mix Stix. We also bought the jam stand, charger and special carrying case. We purchased them all at a local Target store. The problem I am now having with it is, weeks before Christmas, Target has discontinued this product line.

07 OctEntertainment Book

My wife and I have decided not to buy the Entertainment books that my son’s school puses for a fund raiser. I was curious what others felt about them. It seems like you use a couple of coupons right after you buy the book, then you kind of forget about the book the rest of the year. This year, they have decided that since it is such a good “value”, they will raise prices to $30.

07 OctNew Bankruptcy Law

I’m getting quite tired of the left leaning news broadcasts (CNN, CBS) reporting about how bad of a time it is for the new bankruptcy law to take affect(October 17th). While I understand many fall on hard times, especially after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, I really don’t think that alone is enough to file for bankruptcy. I admit I was not affected by the hurricanes, I would be so bold to say that personal financial disaster lasting a month or two should not warrant throwing your arms in the air and giving up. Keep with it, try to find a job, relocate if need be, but keep at it!
