Tom and Mariah came and spent the night with us the other night, and whenever they bring their three dogs with them, my whole family catches dog fever. Their dogs are all wonderful, and I think we all long to have dogs like them.
Becasue they know this, they bought me a book called The Comlete Idiot’s Guide to Getting and Owning a Dog. The book was written y Sheila Webster Boneham, and this book is a must have if you are considering getting a dog.
This book serves as a resource book and walks you through matters such as what breed to consider, leash laws, and more importantly it asks and answers the questions many people might not want to hear if they have puppy fever.

Responsible ownership is a must, there are just too many dogs in the pound.
It’s like that famous quote: I like other people’s children, especially when they cry, because then I can give them back.
The biggest question is: is mum and dad ready for the complete responsibility of a non-puppy? walking, feeding, cleaning… the kids get puppy fever and fervently promise to walk the dog everyday, feed it, wash it brush it, but really it’s the parents who do it.
Having a dog can be one of the most rewarding things though.
