I was excited to get my free subscription to the Handyman Club of America last year when I purchased my Bostich Framing nailer. The subscription was free with purchase. It seemed like a good idea, you got to try out different products and you get a free magazine subscription as well. After my free subscription was up, I began to get the notices. You know the ones. “Last chanceâ€, etc. Two weeks ago I received a larger envelope in the mail with a Lifetime Member patch, a carpenter’s pencil, and a sticker. They also threw in a lot of literature that I didn’t care to read.
I had decided not to renew my subscription. I especially didn’t want to pay for it. I never got the opportunity to try out new products, and honestly, I became bored with the magazine.
Finally yesterday in the mail, I was drawn to an envelope that had the text “Final Notice†printed in bold red text on the front, and they were certain not to put their name in the senders address area. I told my wife, “I bet it’s the Handyman Clubâ€. Sure enough, it was.
I know most magazine subscriptions operate this way. I think it’s a form of harassment. LEAVE ME ALONE!!!!

There trying to do the same to me…charge me for a magazine I didn’t want or ask for. They’ve sent the bill to a collection agency now, even after I sent them a letter CANCELING the subscription before getting anything other than two old copies that had 50% of the articles repeated. What a load of CRAP!

I have the same problem. They sent me two old copies and nothing else. I did not sign anything and wanted to cancel the subscription. Try finding their phone number…..And I just love the letter that says they are going to send my $24.00 subscription to a collection agency.
If that happens, guess what that is going to cost them…………..

I am having similar problems with the Handyman Club of America. I signed up for the Life Membership because it sounded like a good deal as I had subscribed to the magazine and received a couple of small items to test. However, upon receiving my billing for Lifetime Membership it was 50% more than their written offer stated. It has been about 4 months and it is still not straightened out. A month ago when I phoned they agreed that the amount billed was incorrect and they would charge the correct amount to my credit card. Guess what was charged….The incorrect 50% more amount. The saga continues.

I started with the same issue. I also recived the books for 29.00 keeped 2 and returned 1. I was billed for the book I returned and had a credit for. 1 year later still reciving collection notices. The product testing items they sent you are cheap Items you can by at the dollar store. The books you can pick up cheaper at a home inprovment store Its all garbage. The products they give out with a higher price than at the store. And who gets to test the good product anyway. The people who are life members and buy there 30.00 book every month for life. If you think your free membership and regular memberships are going to get you those things DON’T BE FOOLED I’S A RIP OFF!!!!!!!!

I have been a member of the handyman club for over a year and the only thing I have received to test was a mechanical pencil. They make it sound like you will receive all sorts of thing to test. What a rip off
