By no means am I an English scholar, but I have been noticing more and more lately, especially on television, that Proper nouns are not capitalized. Have things changed since I was in school? I always thought that names should start with a capital letter. I first saw it years ago, as a television show displayed it’s credits this way. I have been seeing it a lot lately, and tonight I even saw it PBS, where Senator John McCain was being interviewed and all letters in his name were displayed on the screen, in lower case. Has the respect for our own language deteriorated this much? Or is it that people just don’t care? Maybe being lower case is just “coolâ€!

I think it’s just trying to be cool. What’s even worse is the ebonic type degradation of the language. Take a look at the hip top 100 charts and notice how many words have been “personalized” by intentionally mispelling them.
